Anne Brouillard

Anne Brouillard est née à Louvain, en Belgique, où elle habite toujours. Auteur de plus d’une vingtaine d’albums pour la jeunesse publiés chez des éditeurs de renom, elle a obtenu plusieurs prix et mentions d’honneur dont le Prix Maeterlinck Découverte pour l’ensemble de son travail. « Je pars généralement d’une image, d’une succession d’images, dit-elle, parfois d’émotions ou de sensations que j’essaie de concrétiser dans l’espace d’un album. Parce que mes “histoires” sont destinées à des enfants, elles m’obligent à travailler la lisibilité dans la narration comme dans l’illustration. »
Anne Brouillard was born in Louvain, Belgium, where she still lives. As the author of more than twenty youth books published at renowned publishing companies, she has received many awards and honourable mentions, including the Prix Maeterlinck Découverte, for her body of work. “I generally start with an image, a succession of images,” she says, “sometimes with emotions or sensations that I’m trying to materialize in the space of a book. Because my stories are for children, they force me to work on the readability of the narration as well as of the illustrations.”
